A quiet work. 獨個兒靜靜的造。


































Cat is nearing the end of life,
Borrow a few hours from her.
At the night before the closing performance,
Being on-site alone ,
Getting  well prepared for tomorrow's performers,
and for every participants,
Presenting a gift in return.

貓兒生命進入尾聲,
向她借來數小時。
閉幕演出前的晚上,
獨自進場,
好好為明天的表演者,
也為參與其中的人,
回禮。

Looking forward 心中期待






















 

On the coming Saturday,
after one week of wastage collection,
all the items will depart from Chinese University,
getting off to Central Star Ferry Pier.

An improvisatorial installation,
interacting with performance afterward,
the exhibition is always changeable and sustainable,
experimenting with an improvisational spirit,
predominant by objects.

Randomly and accidentally,
less constraint, more possibilities,
within the four hours of setting up time,
wastages interacting with the venue,
performers basing on the exhibition concept,
jamming and crossing over.

On 30th Oct, at the Central Star Ferry Pier no. 7 & 8, an improvisatorial installation interacting with performance at 4:30pm.

這個星期六,
早上十一時,
經過一星期廢料收集,
各東西便從中大出發,
下卸於天星展場。

展覽繼續變化,
試以一種即興精神,
由物件主導。
即興裝置,
創造展覽現場,
及後與演出互動。

隨機突然,
不作太多預設。
四小時內,
把廢料互動空間,
演出者跟據展覽文字,
互相逆流碰撞。

1030,即興裝置與演出互動。於天星碼頭7-8號地下,四時半發生。

The 2nd stage of "Reclamation Exercise"exhibition
This eco art exhibition is changeable and sustainable, part of the artwork are removed, the 2nd stage of the exhibition begins: please leave us your unwanted stuff or recycle materials inside the circle of glasses , no matter the size and category. This "reclamation" will be until 30 Oct afternoon, for a new installation and performance at 4:30pm.

「生態藝術」特色為多變及可持續發展,這展覽部份作品已經移走。第二階段展覽——回收你們不要的物件,種類大小不拘,需要合乎衛生。請把你們想回收的物品整齊地放進圓形玻璃圈內,收集將於30/10正午終止。當日現場藝術家會利用物料完成裝置作品﹐4﹕30表演者會與作品互動。

“Presenting a gift in return”
Presenting a gift in return for every life form,
with all best wishes.

Material: old newspaper / pigment / old lantern / paper box / plastic bottle / thrown-away tire / crabapple powder 

“The reclamation system”
Universe is a gigantic reclamation system,
I take what you gave,
individuality does not exist here.

Material: worn clothes / old newspaper / iron bar / pigment / crabapple powder / knitting wool / wood glue


“The circle of taking”
On that day Chan took something from Wong,
today Wong took something back from Chan,
the endless back and forth,
the start of suffering.

Material: old household knives, forks, bowls and plates / crepe tape / wood glue / old newspaper / pigment / crabapple powder

“Returning to your home”
Followed back to your home,
watching everything happened in your life.
The creators of waste arts genuinely responding to those being abandoned.

Artist Statement

Reclamation Exercise Eco Art

Introduction
Under the social pattern of “Production---Consumption”, Arts in Hong Kong tend to consider the end product of artistic creation (art piece) as the main objective in creative arts.  This creation habit will easily lead to production in excessive waste without conscious, creating rubbish and cause damage to the environment.  As regard the Eco Art, it is rarely-known and hardly mentioned in the public.  “Arts” seems to have become a shield for damaging the environment or producing waste.

In this “Reclamation Exercise” exhibition, the artists try to introduce “EcoArt”, to enable the viewers and the participants to reconsider the connection between human and natural environment, and trying to change the general conception that Arts creation incidentally lead to consumption of resources, so as to promote the diversity of local Arts.

Concepts
EcoArt by international definition must meet some specific creation criteria: the concept of creation should be based on self-examination of environmental and ecological balance, to minimize the damage and consumption, the creation process is documentary or open to public to ensure transparency, can continue to develop in nature and address the conservation issues.

Based on a desire to nature, the two artists – Seeman Ho and Yuen Hon Wai become the “recycle workers” in order, to gain experience in local recycling industry.  The materials used in artistic creation mainly come from recycling: 7000 thrown-away glass bottles(provided by Green Glass Green), waste material from large-scale stage theater, old newspapers, worn clothes etc., and then to decompose, recycle and reform them.  After this exhibition, some of the materials will continue with their “recycling” mission, keep on to be reused and continue to be developed.

Reclaim” --- is the creation concept for the whole exhibition. In order trying to visualize the word “reclaim” and interact with the venue, the entrance and exit are in the same location under a circular zone so that the viewer must walk in a circle path, the Mandala-like circle simulates a delicate dimension between “macro/infinite big universe” and “micro/inner-side small universe”.

The small universe within the circle demonstrates several forms of human livings.  In the gigantic recycling system of the universe, a human being naturally interacts with each other.  We do not have an individual living form here, people can choose to share with others and bless with every moment.  “I take something from you and you take something back from me”, back and forth and could only be a continue process . A few hundred artists using their artistic works in the form of glass bottle, genuinely “respond to the exhibition”, reexamining those which have been thrown-away. 

Artists of Sound Arts collect those beautiful sound and give live performance to natural music, interact and improvise with the dancers which will run through the whole exhibition, allowing us to observe and hear various kind of sound and movements in our city.
 
導言
香港藝術在「生產-消費」的社會型態上﹐傾向把創作結果(藝術品),視為重要之創作目的。這種創作習慣,極容易不自覺的浪費,製造垃圾和破壞環境。至於生態藝術﹐更是鮮為人知﹐甚少被提及,「藝術」彷彿成為破壞生態或生產廢物的擋箭牌。 
在是次「回收作業」展覽,藝術家嘗試引進生態藝術(Eco Art),讓觀賞者及參與者重新思索人與自然的關係﹐並改變一般人認為藝術必須是消耗資源的觀念﹐藉此推動本地藝術的多樣性。

創作概念
生態藝術(Eco Art)在國際標準上必須符合特定創作原則﹕作品概念以反思環境及生態平衡出發,把破壞與浪費減至最低紀錄式或開放創作過程作透明度呈現可持續性及保育問題。

基於一份對自然的理想兩位藝術家二犬十一咪及阮漢威﹐變身為「回收員」﹐經驗本地回收情況﹐作品採用的創作物料﹐主要是回收而來﹕7000個棄置玻璃瓶(由「玻璃再生璀璨」計劃提供)﹑大型劇場廢料﹑舊報紙﹑舊衣物等﹐再將之分解﹑再造﹑重現。展覽後﹐部份物料將繼續履行其「回收」使命﹐循環再造﹐可持續發展下去。 

「回」——是整個展覽的創作概念。試圖以「回」字與空間互動﹐圓形的裝置,出入口置於同一位置﹐觀者必須繞圈而行﹐恍如曼陀羅(Mandala)以圓形象徵一種「無限的大宇宙」和「內在的小宇宙」相即的微妙空間。

圓形內的小宇宙,展露人類生存的幾種狀態。在宇宙巨大回收系統中﹐人與人﹑自與他互相牽連。這兒沒有獨立生存的個體,人可以選擇跟他者分享﹐每刻祝福。你吃我﹐我吃你來來回回,只會相續不斷。幾百個廢藝術品創作者,以製作玻璃瓶作品,去誠實「回」應展覽﹐把被遺棄的一一檢視。聲音藝術家把美好的聲音收集﹐現場演繹自然音樂﹐與舞者互動即興﹐貫穿展覽現場﹐讓我們眼觀﹑耳聽城市中的各種聲音與動作。

公開收集一千件<廢藝術品>

我不要你了,因為你沒有用……
我不要你了,所以你再沒有用……
我不要你了,我想眼不見為乾淨……
當物件被拋進垃圾桶的那一刻,頓成為歷史。墨水乾透的原子筆、壞掉了的電鬚刨、不夠潮的手機、用完即棄的衛生巾、分手後被撕掉的情書…… 一天內囤積於垃圾桶的廢物,就是你我他和她的歷史,甚至是一個家庭的歷史。
我們希望收集你的歷史,不作篡改,讓它變成<廢藝術品>。

發起人﹕二犬十一咪
時限:十月一日前
目標:一千件用棄置玻璃瓶保存著的家庭垃圾(我們稱為<廢藝術品>)
收集目的:邀請大眾透過自己那件<廢藝術品>,參與在十月中天星碼頭,十一月南丫島及二月中文大學之“Eco Art藝術裝置”展覽

<廢藝術品>製作原則
1)8-9月某一個晚上,把本來等待收走或準備棄置的那包<家庭垃圾>,小心地打開
2)那包<家庭垃圾>,以不事先作選擇性拋棄/不拋棄某件垃圾為原則,要履行呈現家庭垃圾的真實性為重要
3)在A4紙上詳細記錄那包<家庭垃圾>所有內容物,報告那天自家垃圾情況(例如:百力支包裝紙盒一個、破潛水眼鏡、撕碎的銀行月結單、空罐頭X3、折半的鉛筆、波鞋價錢牌及招紙、白色膠袋X1、帶魚鮮味紅色膠袋X1、指甲碎小堆、雜菜廚餘一堆、用過廁紙大堆、汽水罐連飲管X2)
4)於A4報告紙頂部,寫下基本資料。包括:作品製作人名字/代號、家庭人數、居住地區、當天備註(例如:天氣、節日、特別活動及事情)
5)在那天眾多垃圾中選出1至3件具代表性之垃圾
6)用任何方法,把選好之垃圾,一件一件分開地放入一個個玻璃瓶內。處理方法包括:保持原整、弄斷、打碎、卷起…… 等等
7)緊記立即把玻璃瓶口認真“密封",一件<廢藝術品>便完成
8)可製作多於一天的<廢藝術品>

Material study. Glasses reclamation 物料探索 玻璃回收















Material study on glasses reclamation with the help of Green Glass Green (http://www.greenglass.org.hk/). It is a project focus on raising awareness about the problem of waste glass, while actively collecting bottles for recycling in Hong Kong.

Introduce Eco Art to my home country 把生態藝術帶回家

“Reclamation Exercise" Eco Art Exhibition (2010) 《回收作業》生態藝術展覽(2010)
 
I was used to collect wastage since I was young.

Walking into a moldy house, searching for the unfamiliar people’s photos, bringing the broken toy home, enjoy and appreciate. The beautiful glasses, children's garments with the smell of butter, old and dusty plastic flowers. Leaves from the mountain to make the fiber, with knitting and needlework to be fashion. Things being dumped, had once been valued, ever been loved.

Creating while collecting, love to use materials being called as waste or rubbish, return them an existence value. Construction wasted wood, wrapping paper, plastic bottles, old newspaper, and every second hand household items, are the soul for creation. My previous publication and exhibition artwork, mainly focus on the contradiction between human and nature, and rethink how greed and desire nibble up human and object.

In spring 2009, while packing, I looked back the overseas exhibition and exchange program photos, recalled a New York friend who was preparing an eco art exhibition. I realized that there is no such art form in Hong Kong. With the above reasons, I got the first eco art funding from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.

Here and now, I have my documentation.

自少愛拾荒。
進入發霉破屋,搜尋陌生者的相片,帶支離破碎的玩具回家,賞樂。美麗玻璃瓶、酥味的孩子服陳舊塵蓋的塑膠花山上落葉製纖維,一針一線縫時裝。別人遺棄的,曾經風光,被愛過。
拾荒中創作,喜歡用被人稱作廢料的物件造藝術品,還物件一份存在意義。建築廢木、包裝紙盒、塑膠瓶、過氣報紙雜誌,及林林總總二手家居用品,是創作的靈魂。過往出版和展覽作品,主要探討人在自然的矛盾,反思個人慾望如何蠶食人與物。
2009年春天,在收納中,回看外地展覽與交流照片,憶起紐約朋友那年正在籌備生態藝術聯展,覺醒香港不曾出現這類藝術形式。就以上等等原因,我取了藝術發展局第一個生態藝術資助。
在此,我記錄。
